A long-range drone hit a Russian oil refinery more than 1,300 kilometers from Ukraine.

Local media reported on this.

In Russia, on May 9, at around 11:00 a.m. (1:00 p.m. local time), a drone attacked the Salavatnefteorgsintez oil refinery in Bashkiria, owned by Gazprom.

According to a local newspaper, the catalytic cracker unit was damaged as a result of the attack. Afterward, the company’s employees heard an explosion and saw smoke and fire in the impact area.

According to open sources, Salavatnefteorgsintez is the tenth-largest oil refinery in Russia. Its annual refining capacity is about 10 million tons.

The enterprise is located more than 1,300 kilometers from Ukraine. It is currently the most distant facility hit by drones.

Strikes on the fuel infrastructure

On the same day, a group of drones struck a Russian oil depot in Krasnodar Krai, causing a fire and widespread damage.

According to the footage from the scene, at least two large five thousand RVS-5000 tanks were damaged. They are apparently damaged beyond repair, and the fire in the tanks will be extinguished only when the fuel burns out.

The Russian facility is located 300 kilometers in a straight line from the line of contact in the Zaporizhzhia region. However, it is possible that the drones could have been launched via the Black Sea, which could have extended the flight duration to 800 kilometers.

Previously, on May 1, drones attacked oil refineries in the Ryazan and Voronezh regions of Russia.

A fire broke out at the Ryazan oil refinery. At first, a humming sound was heard, followed by two explosions. A video of the fire was posted on social media.

Later, sources of the Ukrainian Pravda media outlet reported that Russian drones of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine had hit the targets.
