In Kharkiv, the Security Service of Ukraine has exposed a Russian agent who was adjusting missile strikes on the city.

It is reported that the Russian agent collected information about the locations of bases and routes of movement of units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the territory of the city.

According to the SSU, the man transmitted the received information to the Russian invaders in the form of electronic coordinates and marks on the map via Telegram.

“The invaders needed intelligence information to prepare and carry out targeted missile strikes on the regional center,” the statement reads.

The man was detained by SSU officers near a city critical infrastructure facility during an attempt to collect classified data.

According to the investigation, the Russian agent turned out to be an unemployed local resident who was recruited by Russians in November 2022.

“In order to fulfill the tasks of the enemy, the agent moved around the territory of the city covertly observing the units of the Ukrainian defenders and recording their locations,” the SSU reported.

During the investigation, a smartphone with evidence of correspondence with representatives of the aggressor country was found in the detainee’s possession.

So far, SSU investigators have informed the suspect of suspicion under Part 3 of Art. 114-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (unauthorized dissemination of information about the deployment of Armed Forces of Ukraine).

For the Russian agent the court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention. The detainee faces up to 12 years in prison.

As previously reported, the Russian invaders hit a residential building in the center of Kharkiv with a missile of the S-300 surface-to-air missile systems in the evening of January 29.

As a result of the strike, the fourth floor of the building was destroyed. Apartments on the second and third floors were also damaged. Rescuers found the body of an elderly woman under the rubble.
