Anti-aircraft missile forces showcased the work of the Air Force Command “East” units.

They released a video featuring the destruction of enemy targets.

“July 5, 2022, 4:00 a.m. The combat work of the Ukrainian air defense – units of the anti-aircraft missile forces of the Air Command “East” (Dnipro),” the report says.

This is probably related to the morning shelling of the Dnipropetrovsk region.

Valentyn Reznichenko, Head of the Regional Military Administration, stated that the invaders fired 7 missiles at the region, and 6 of them were shot down.

“Morning missile attack on the region. The “neighbor” had “friendly” directed seven missiles at us! Six of them were shot down by our servicemen – over Dnipro and Synelnykivsky district. In Dnipro, the wreckage of a downed rocket led to a fire. Firefighters extinguished the fire. No one was injured,” he said.

“Some houses were destroyed, windows were broken in several more. The explosion caused a fire. Representatives of the State Emergency Service and the police are working on the spot. According to preliminary data, no casualties have been reported,” the Head of the Regional Military Administration shared.

Anti-aircraft missile forces of Ukraine

Anti-aircraft missile troops are the military unit within the Air Force, Ground Forces, and the Navy. It is established for the anti-aircraft defense of important administrative centers, industrial and economic districts, and armed forces groups.

The anti-aircraft missile forces of the Air Force are armed with S-300 anti-aircraft missile systems and Buk missile systems.

The S-300 is a medium-range anti-aircraft missile system (SAM). It was adopted in the USSR in 1979. It is designed for the defense of large industrial and administrative facilities, military bases, and control points from strikes of enemy air and space attacks.

Buk is a medium-range multi-role anti-aircraft missile system (the upgraded version is the Buk-M1-2 air defense system). It is designed to destroy aircraft, cruise missiles, helicopters, and other air targets (depending on the modification).

In addition, Ukraine will also receive NASAMS systems to strengthen air defense.

NASAMS systems are designed by a consortium of the American Raytheon Technologies Corporation and the Norwegian group Kongsberg. The system is equipped with launchers and Raytheon AN/MPQ-64F1 Sentinel radars manufactured by the Raytheon and Kongsberg consortium.

Raytheon is responsible for supplying its AIM-120 AMRAAM medium-range air-to-air missiles for this system, and Kongsberg supplies the launchers.

Each mobile launcher has six containers with anti-aircraft missiles. NASAMS system is either in service or about to be delivered to 12 countries.

The firing range of the NASAMS II model equipped with AIM-120C AMRAAM missiles is up to 25 km, and the altitude range is up to 14-15 km.
