A powerful explosion blasted in one of the bays of Sevastopol, Crimea.

Militarnyi reports on this.

The explosion took place on April 21, 2024, at 8:30 am, in Holland Bay, where landing and rescue ships of the Russian Black Sea Fleet are usually stationed.

It should be noted that prior to the explosion, no air alert was declared on the territory of temporarily occupied Crimea.

One of the videos published by a local resident captures Holland Bay, which is located near the northern shore of Sevastopol Bay.

The location of video recording is located at coordinates 44.623971, 33.553133, where, according to local residents, the submarine salvage ship Kommuna was located at the time of the explosion.

OSINT specialists on the Internet managed to identify some elements that can partially confirm the damage to the salvage ship.

First of all, they noted the similarity between the mast of the vessel captured by the local resident and the submarine salvage ship Kommuna.

The submarine salvage ship Kommuna is the oldest vessel in the Russian Navy, built on November 17, 1913.

The main task of this vessel is to search for and raise submarines, and to conduct rescue operations to find and rescue submariners.

The ship survived two world wars and is currently used by the Russian Black Sea Fleet. In addition, the Kommuna was used by the Russians to inspect the sunken cruiser Moskva in 2022.

It should be noted that if the information about the destruction of the rescue vessel is confirmed, it will be added to the long list of sunken Russian ships that were hit and destroyed by naval drones and cruise missiles.
