Armed Forces captured upgraded Russian BMP-2М in Kherson Region

The Ukrainian military captured a modernized infantry fighting vehicle, the BMP-2, from the Russian Federation invasion forces.

The vehicle was shaded during a counteroffensive in the Kherson Region. Photos of the IFV were published on social media.

The main feature of the retrofitted Russian vehicle is the Berezhok combat module.

The B05Ya01 Berezhok combat module is a classic BMP-2 turret. At the same time, it differs from the classics with an updated weapons system.

Instead of the BPK-2-42 main sight of the gunner, it has a combined sight with an independent system for stabilizing the line of sight in two axis.

The sighting complex combines: sighting optical, thermal imaging and laser rangefinder channels, as well as a guided anti-tank missile guidance channel.

The main weapon is a 30mm gun, which is designed to combat enemy equipment and infantry.

In the aft part of the turret there is a 30mm АG-30М automatic grenade launcher with an independent vertical guidance drive and a total ammunition of 300 rounds.

The BMP is also equipped with Kornet anti-tank guided missiles, which are located on twin launchers on the tower. The guidance of these missiles is carried out on a laser beam and can be carried out when moving. The complex has the ability to launch two missiles at an interval of up to two seconds.

Note that unmodernized “classic” Soviet BPM-2 are equipped with Fagot or Konkurs anti-tank missiles. These systems can conduct single firing from the spot, and the crew must manually take out containers with missiles for installation before launch.
