This summer, Canada will send 39 armored vehicles to the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

This was stated by the Canadian Defense Minister Anita Anand, writes Reuters.

New armored personnel carriers will come as part of military assistance, which is necessary for Ukraine’s defense against the Russian invasion troops.

The LAV II ACSV Super Bison armored vehicles had to be transferred to the Canadian Army, as they were intended for it. Instead, they would be handed over to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Yesterday Anita Anand visited the General Dynamics Land Systems-Canada defense company. During the visit, the Minister confirmed the Canadian Government’s commitment to transfer new armored vehicles to Ukraine.

Wheeled vehicles are part of the 500 million Canadian dollars military support to Ukraine, which is provided by the budget of Canada.

The base LAV II ACSV Super Bison chassis can be used as ambulances, maintenance and evacuation vehicles, or for personnel transportation.

In addition to armored personnel carriers, Canada will send spare parts for them and six high-resolution cameras that can be used with Bayraktar TB2 drones. These drones are manufactured in Turkey by Ukrainian order.

It is expected that the armored personnel carriers will arrive in Ukraine this summer after the Ukrainian military undergoes the necessary training.

The General Dynamics Land Systems-Canada’s technical support package will follow the agreement on the supply of armored vehicles, which are intended exclusively for the transportation of troops to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The Canadian Army ordered 360 armored combat support vehicles (ACSVs) in eight modifications under a $3 billion contract o. The armored vehicle is equipped with a new generation suspension system and an improved engine.

The Super Bison armored personnel carrier’s protective capability is improved by a double V-shaped bottom of the hull and special seat fasteners, which in total increases the resistance to blasting on mines and IEDs by absorbing explosive energy. The vehicle is able to move at speeds of more than 100 km/h, with an operational range up to 600 km with one tank.
