Canada will send 3.85 million Canadian dollars (about $3 million) for Ukraine’s security sector institutions’ strengthening projects.

This intention is noted in the statement of the head of the Canadian government, Justin Trudeau.

Approximately $2.9 million of the additional funding will be allocated for the Canada-Ukraine Police Development Project.

This project provides targeted support to the National Police of Ukraine (NPU) and Ukraine’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and State Emergency Services.

Funding is provided for the purchase of essential equipment and supplies. Support is also being provided to improve police responses to cases of war-related sexual violence and expand psychological peer support for police.

In addition, approximately $950,000 will be spent on the ‘Promoting Reform Objectives through Technical Expertise and Capacity Transfer’ project, focusing on providing technical advice and support to Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense.

This project is strengthening the capacity of the Ministry of Defense.

Trudeau’s office recalled that in 2022, Canada committed over 3.4 billion Canadian dollars (2.62 billion US dollars) in support to Ukraine.

Since February, 2022, Canada has committed or delivered 626 million Canadian dollars in military aid (over $483 million).

As previously reported, Canada relaunches Operation Unifier for the Ukrainian servicemen.

The training will be conducted in Great Britain, where up to 225 Canadian servicemen will be deployed.
