Cluster munitions hit Russian pontoon ferries across the Seim River in the Kursk region
Ukrainian troops hit Russian pontoon ferries across the Seim River in the Kursk region.
The Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine released a video demonstrating the use of cluster munitions on pontoon crossings.
First, the SOF hit the vehicles and equipment of the Russian pontoon bridge unit between Zvannoye and Glushkovo with FPV drones. Then, Ukrainian artillery fired cluster munitions at this position.
The military attacked the Russian PP-91M pontoon fleet, which is based on the KamAZ-63501 chassis, and the EOV-3521 wheeled excavator, which is based on the Ural-4320.
The second Russian crossing was also hit by Ukrainian artillery, which was adjusted by Ukrainian reconnaissance drones.
The SOF said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine used the American M142 HIMARS rocket launcher for this purpose.
The rocket launcher fired several cluster munitions that covered the area where the crossing was being built.
“The video shows the effective destruction of enemy engineering equipment in the Kursk region by the SOF operators, as well as adjusting the fire of the HIMARS rocket systems on bridges and pontoon crossings,” the SOF stated.
The Russians attempted to build a second crossing across the Seim River between the settlements of Glushkovo and Kobylky.
On August 16, it became known that the Ukrainian military destroyed a key bridge connecting the border areas of the Kursk region with the right bank of the Seim River.
It was targeted over a span of two days, leading to its destruction. Initially, the strikes were carried out using HIMARS rocket launchers. Later, it was reported that the Ukrainian Air Force toppled the bridge using Hammer or JDAM precision-guided bombs.
If these facilities are destroyed, part of the Glushkovsky district will be cut off from the main Russian troops from the north. At the same time, the Russian-Ukrainian border is located to the west, and the advancing Ukrainian forces are to the east.
