Come Back Alive Foundation purchased the Bayraktar TB2 unmanned combat aerial system

The ‘Come Back Alive’ Foundation purchased the Bayraktar TB2 unmanned combat aerial system at a total cost of $16,502,450.

This is the largest implemented project, the Foundation informed.

The ‘Come Back Alive’ Foundation for the first time in history implemented a project to purchase an unmanned combat aerial system consisting of three aircraft, weapons, ground stations and all the necessary equipment. For the first time in the history of Ukraine, a volunteer organization provided the military with a similar type of equipment,” Taras Chmut, Head of the Foundation said.

This regards an autonomous system that includes:

  • air communication system;
  • mobile ground control system;
  • ground data terminal;
  • recognition system “friend-or-foe”;
  • three strike drones;
  • several dozen adjusted aviation ammunition;
  • and other necessary ground equipment and spare parts.

The head of the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov made comments on the purchase. He emphasized that such a system would significantly strengthen the capabilities of the military.

“This is a significant breakthrough for us, it will significantly strengthen the power of our divisions. First of all, intelligence units and, secondly, support for the actions of special purpose units,” Kyrylo Budanov said.

‘Come Back Alive’ Foundation noted that they received permission to import military goods back in March 2022. Due to this permission, they managed to reach a new level and scale-up purchases to help the army.

“The organization of such deals, their contracting and logistics impose certain restrictions on publicness, but it significantly speeds up the end user’s receipt of assistance, and I am grateful to the ‘Come Back Alive’ Foundation’s team for their entrusted me to run this project from the beginning to the very end,” the volunteer, lawyer and First Deputy Executive Director of the Ukrainian Veterans Fund Ruslana Velychko said.

She also added that ‘Come Back Alive’ Foundation would purchase armored vehicles, mortars, unmanned combat aerial vehicles, kamikaze drones and manned aircraft in the future.

As previously reported, the Come Back Alive Foundation spent over 75 million hryvnias to buy 382 drones for the Ukrainian servicemen.
