Czech BREN 2 assault rifles will be assembled at the facilities of Ukroboronprom enterprises.

This was announced by Oleksandr Kamyshin, Minister for Strategic Industries of Ukraine.

According to him, the Joint-Stock Company Ukrainian Defense Industry entered into an agreement with the Czech company Česká zbrojovka a.s. about the transfer of the license.

“This will make it possible to produce NATO-standard rifles, in particular, the CZ BREN 2 model in Ukraine and equip the AFU with proven, high-quality standard firearms, which will strengthen the operational capabilities,” Kamyshin said.

The report notes that CZ BREN 2 uses military formations and law enforcement agencies around the world, for example, the Czech Republic Army, Armed Forces of Ukraine, the French National Gendarmerie Intervention Group (GIGN), the Portuguese Army, the Polish Border Guard, the Romanian Gendarmerie, etc.

“The transfer of technology from NATO member states is a key moment for our company, due to the successful international partnership and reform of the defense industry. This initiative is an important step towards the creation of the Arsenal of the free world in Ukraine,” said Herman Smetanin, CEO of Ukroboronprom.

Jan Zajíc, CEO of Česká zbrojovka Uherský Brod, said: “We are honored to support Ukraine’s efforts to adopt standard NATO equipment and improve the capability of its defense industry. This first step towards a full-scale technology transfer project for the CZ BREN 2 rifle is a direct consequence of its successful use by Armed Forces of Ukraine on the battlefield. ”

The project of transfer of technologies for the production of CZ BREN 2 assault rifles was presented in Ukraine as a key initiative at the First International Forum of Defense Industries (DFNC1) in Kyiv, which took place at the end of September 2023.

Last fall, the Czech Ministry of Defense reported that the deployment of the production of these firearms at Ukrainian facilities will become one of the “flagship” projects of Ukrainian-Czech cooperation.

Assault rifles of Česká zbrojovka company will be manufactured in Ukraine under the “Sich” brand.

In addition, the Czechs will help Ukrainians establish a line for the production of ammunition. This project will be implemented by Sellier & Bellot.
