Denmark will soon deliver another batch of F-16s
Ukraine will receive another batch of Danish F-16 fighter jets by the end of this year.
The Minister of Defense Troels Lund Poulsen stated this.
The minister did not name the number of aircraft to be transferred or the exact timeframe due to security restrictions, but only outlined delivery dates.
“Denmark will deliver additional F-16 fighter jets in the second half of 2024,” the minister said.
Given the allies’ demands for the transfer of fighter jets, it can be concluded that trained Ukrainian pilots and technicians should arrive in the country along with the new aircraft.
Denmark handed over the first batch of an unknown number of aircraft in August this year. In total, the government has committed to sending 19 fighter jets from its own Air Force.
Meanwhile, the Netherlands has already begun to transfer spare parts and equipment for the maintenance and repair of Ukrainian F-16s. This was announced on September 6 by Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans.
“F-16s need support and spare parts for maintenance. Without this, they cannot fly. The Netherlands is donating materials worth €80 million. In addition to a large number of spare parts, this includes generators, small vehicles, basic maintenance materials, specialized tools and ladders,” he said.
The first of the 24 promised Dutch fighter jets are to arrive in Ukraine by the end of 2024.
Meanwhile, Ukraine continues to train new pilots abroad, preparing for the further deployment of new squadrons.
In particular, this month, a group of Ukrainian Air Force pilots have begun training on F-16s in Romania.
At the same time, Ukraine is looking for foreign retired pilots from NATO countries to fly the transferred F-16s until Ukrainian specialists complete their training.
