F-16C fighter jet crashes in Singapore
An F-16C fighter jet crashed during takeoff from the Tengah Air Base in Singapore.
The MINDEF Singapore reported on this.
The accident occurred when the fighter jet took off from the Tengah Air Base at about 12:35 p.m. local time.
Dispatchers at the airfield received an emergency call from the plane about a problem on board.
A few seconds after this message, the plane began to fall, and the pilot ejected in time.
“The pilot is conscious and able to walk. He is receiving medical attention and no other personnel are hurt,” the Ministry said.
The Ministry of Defence of Singapore has now launched an investigation into the cause of the crash.
This is the first loss of an F-16 fighter jet in the Republic of Singapore Air Force in 20 years. The last time the country lost this type of aircraft was in 2004 during night training flights in the US state of Arizona.
Overall, the country has been using F-16 fighter jets for almost 30 years and has recently modernized these aircraft.
Militarnyi previously reported that two SH-60K anti-submarine helicopters crashed in Japan during naval aviation exercises.
The accident occurred on the evening of April 20, 2024, during a training exercise in the Pacific Ocean, 270 km east of Torishima Island in the Izu Islands range.
The helicopters were involved in a nighttime anti-submarine warfare exercise to search for an enemy submarine and stopped communicating around 10:38 p.m. local time.
