Fierce urban combat continues in Sievierodonetsk – the Ministry of Defense
The enemy command does not reckon with losses and tries to take control of Sievierodonetsk.
Ukrainian Defense Ministry spokesperson Oleksandr Motuzianyk said this at a daily briefing.
Fierce urban combat continues in the city.
“Russian troops are using WWII tactics and consider surrounding the opponent and capturing territories to be their main achievement. The enemy highly values achieving a significant advantage in artillery and armored vehicles. They use virtually no infantry maneuvers. We conclude this from reports, including those from Sievierodonetsk, where urban combat continues,” Motuzianyk said.
The invaders are suffering heavy losses in the infantry units of Rosgvardiya and the Russian Armed Forces. They are advancing only thanks to their assault aircraft. The enemy is also actively using artillery and MLRS.
“Ukraine’s Armed Forces are holding off the Russian offensive trying to surround our troops in Sievierodonetsk and Lysychansk and block logistics routes from Bakhmut,” Motuzianyk said.
In the Sloviansk direction, the Ukrainian Armed Forces successfully held off the enemy’s offensive near the villages of Dolyna and Bohorodychne.
Near Lyman, the enemy did not conduct active hostilities, but continued to shell the positions of our troops outside of Maiaky and Serebrianka.
In the Bakhmut area, Ukrainian units stopped the enemy’s assault on Viktorivka-Vrubivka and Komyshuvakha-Vrubivka directions.
In order to block Ukrainian units, the enemy resumed offensive operations outside of Zolote village.
The enemy is also trying to gain a foothold near Roty and Myronivka.
Ukraine’s Armed Forces successfully repelled the enemy assault towards the Dolomitne-Kodema and Dolomitne-Novoluhanske directions. In these areas, the invaders were seeking to capture elevated positions.
In the Kurakhove direction, the enemy used a pair of Su-25 aircraft to launch an airstrike at the positions of our troops near Krasnohorivka.
The Joint Forces Task Force reported that Ukrainian servicemen managed to advance the frontline by 15 km and liberate three villages in the Donetsk Region.
