Finland announces 25th package of military assistance to Ukraine
Finland will provide Ukraine with an additional 25th military aid package that will strengthen the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
The Finnish Ministry of Defense said that the aid would amount to about €118 million.
Finland has already provided assistance to Ukraine worth €2.3 billion.
“The military situation in Ukraine remains serious. As promised, Finland will continue to provide material assistance. Our message to our partner countries is that we must not give up,” said Defense Minister Antti Häkkinen.
The statement also states that “for operational reasons and to ensure the safe arrival of the delivery at its destination, no further information will be provided on the contents of the aid, the method of delivery or the schedule.”
Finland participates in the armored coalition to help Ukraine, led by Poland, Germany, and Italy, and in the information technology coalition, led by Estonia and Luxembourg.
Finland has also joined the Czech initiative to purchase ammunition for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
It is known that Ukrainian defenders are armed with Finnish-made Sisu XA-180 armored personnel carriers.
According to analysts from the Oryx, Finland has been supplying Ukraine with Leopard 2R engineering vehicles, which are based on the Leopard 2 tank.
The assistance included Soviet-era weapons: the 2S1 Gvozdika howitzer, 2A36 Giatsint-B field gun, 130 mm M-46 cannon, 23 mm ZU-23-2 anti-aircraft twin-barreled autocannon.
Finland actively supplies Ukraine with ammunition for various weapons. In particular, the supplies include 155mm artillery shells.
Finland has a Nammo plant that produces 155mm shells. Finland, together with its allies, is also planning to urgently build a TNT plant.
