Germany has already transferred the MIM-104 Patriot SAM system and anti-aircraft missiles to Ukraine.

The news was published on the official website of the government of the Federal Republic of Germany.

As early as January 15, Germany undertook to hand over the Patriot SAM system battery to Ukraine. This is stated in the official statement of the government of Germany following the conversation between Chancellor Olaf Scholz and U.S. President Joe Biden.

As a result of this meeting, the German government stated it is ready to support U.S. efforts to strengthen Ukraine’s anti-missile defense and to hand it over one battery of the Patriot air defense system.

“Both countries plan to train the Armed Forces of Ukraine to use these systems,” the statement says.

The transfer of air defense systems to Ukraine was supposed to take place immediately after the completion of the process of training Ukrainian operators in Germany, which began on February 2.

The course on mastering the Patriot air defense system for approximately 70 servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was held at an accelerated pace: six days a week.

The Ukrainians were working with the control center of the air defense system, learning how to operate the launchers, as well as loading them with anti-aircraft missiles, and also mastering the tracking radar, which is part of the Patriot system.

The military is also trained in the maintenance and repair of this weapon system.

Representatives of the Bundeswehr note that the Ukrainian military is mastering this air defense system very quickly. This is due to the fact that they are highly motivated and most of them already have combat experience.

“Motivation is high because everyone knows what it’s about,” the German officer said.
