Germany will supply Ukraine with an additional 4 PzH 2000 self-propelled guns
The German government has decided to transfer four more Panzerhaubitze 2000 self-propelled artillery systems to Ukraine.
This is stated in the Ministry of Defense of Germany.
Howitzers and ammunition will go to Ukraine despite the difficult material situation of the Bundeswehr.
“Shipment will be possible and will begin immediately after discussions with industry representatives on the speedy delivery of repaired guns from the army’s overhaul program,” the ministry said.
Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht remarks that this step will increase the number of high-efficiency guns delivered by Germany to Ukraine up to 14.
Then, together with howitzers from Holland, the number of self-propelled howitzers of this type transferred to Ukraine will increase to 22.
“Ukraine praises this system and expresses an interest to get more howitzers. To further support Ukraine in its courageous fight against Russia’s brutal invasion, Germany will fulfill this request and provide four more such self-propelled howitzers,” Lambrecht said.
It should be recalled that earlier the German government approved the sale of 100 Panzerhaubitze 2000 self-propelled howitzers to Ukraine. Their production can take several years, so it is probably about strengthening the Armed Forces in the long term.
In addition, Lithuania agreed to repair the German PzH 2000 ACS, which had already been transferred to Ukraine.
Ukrainian gunners use 155mm DM121 shells to fire with the PzH 2000 self-propelled howitzers.
These 155mm ammunition can reach a range of up to 30 kilometers when fired with a PzH 2000 self-propelled howitzer.
It also recently became known that Ukraine will receive 225 high-precision Vulcano rounds, which will strengthen Ukrainian 155mm caliber guns.
