Heavy fighting continues in Rubizhne and Popasna

Fierce battles with the Russian invaders are still ongoing in Popasna and Rubezhnoye districts in the Luhansk region.

In the town of Rubizhne, located in Severodonetsk district of the Luhansk region, the occupation forces destroyed 70% of the city.

Since March 18, 2022, there has been heavy fighting in Rubizhne. The situation is currently difficult, yet controlled by Ukrainian forces.

Now the enemy is trying to move deeper inside Rubizhne.

The Ukrainian city is being defended by soldiers of the National Guard of Ukraine and the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

“Despite the great superiority of the occupying forces and assistance provided to the enemy by the local collaborator, who is repeatedly changing his “loyalty vector” and changing his rhetoric, the Ukrainian military are holding the line and actively destroying enemy offensive equipment and infantry,” the National Guard said.

Lyudmyla Denisova, the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, reported that during the assault of residential areas of Rubizhne, the enemy used UR-07M remote demining systems based on the BMP-3 chassis.

It also houses a launcher with an extended demining charge UZP-06 and UZP-06D.

Popasna

In the Luhansk region in Popasna, a house collapsed due to the fighting, resulting in three casualties, according to the Head of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration Serhii Haidai.

“They were hiding in the basement from Russian shells but it was the house that got hit. Both walls and ceiling were smashed down to the basement. People were caught under blockage. The building caught on fire . The rescue team managed to put out the flames, but three people there were already without signs of life. One woman survived,” Haidai said.

According to his words, the situation in Popasna remains extremely challenging. Street fights in the city are ongoing. The enemy is also shelling remotely using heavy weaponry. Aviation is constantly bombing the residential sector.
