Kharkiv Armored Plant runs tests of T-64BV mod. 2022 tank

Kharkiv Armored Plant State Enterprise, which is a part of Ukroboronprom State Concern, is testing the latest modernization of T-64BV tank preformed in 2022.

The overhaul and modernization were carried out in the order of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

The company’s specialists have equipped the tank with new third-generation surveillance and sighting units.

The armored vehicle was equipped with anti-accumulation sternward bar armor and rubber shields on the tower.

In addition, the upgraded Т-64BV tank was presented with commander’s turret with 12.7 mm Snipex Laska K-2 heavy machine gun.

The barrel on the new machine gun is quickly removable, made of high-quality alloyed steel; the number of cuts is 8 with a pitch of 381 mm. Its weight is 11 kg, and its length is 1111 mm.

The barrel is 11 mm longer than that of NSV. Combined with a short move, this allows the bullet to accelerate to 890-910 m/s, while in older weapons; this figure is 820-840 m/s.

In addition, the fuel system of the combat vehicle has also been improved and additional armored protection of fuel tanks has been installed.

According to Martin Brest, along the entire length of the tanks from the side are protected by 12 mm thick plates of armored steel of the “71” brand.

To reduce the chance of damage to the machine gun and ammunition from debris and bullets, machine gun and box protection shields were also installed.

“T-64BV mod. 2022 tank received new up-to-date radio stations to replace the old Soviet ones. Among other, from now on this combat vehicle has navigation, internal and external communication systems which fully meets NATO standards,” the director of the Kharkiv Armored Plant Herman Smetanin said.
