The Ministry of Defense of Latvia will transfer to Ukraine a part of the CVR(T) family of combat vehicles purchased from the United Kingdom.

Delfi reported on this.

For security reasons, the number of transferred vehicles and their variants are not specified, but there is a high probability that among the CVR(T) family vehicles will be transferred FV107 Scimitar armored tracked military reconnaissance vehicles, which the country plans to replace with a modern platform.

It is known today that Latvia is preparing to transfer about a batch of combat vehicles to Ukraine, the number of which will be in the range of 9 to 12 units.

In total, the Latvian Army has 198 vehicles of the CVR(T) family, namely: FV103 Spartan, FV104 Samaritan, FV105 Sultan, FV106 Samson and FV107 Scimitar.

As part of the contract signed between Latvia and the United Kingdom, the country received 116 modernized CVR(T) combat vehicles and 7 for training.

In 2021, Latvia ordered an additional batch of 86 vehicles of this family, which were delivered in 2022.

In addition, Latvia plans to transfer Finnish Patria armored modular vehicles to Ukraine in 2025.

The transfer of new AMVs will take place as part of a military assistance package, and the vehicles to be transferred will be from a Latvian order for more than 200 AMVs for its own army.

In October 2020, Ministries of Defense of Latvia and Finland signed an agreement with Patria to start research and development work on the development of a family of new Patria 6×6 wheeled armored personnel carriers.

In August 2021, Latvia ordered over 200 armored personnel carriers as part of a joint program.

Deliveries will take place between 2021 and 2029. The first four were delivered in October 2021.
