Volodymyr Zelensky awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine to Serhii Nayev, the Commander of the Joint Forces.

Volodymyr Zelensky, President of Ukraine, shared this news.

On April 27, President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a Decree awarding the title of Hero of Ukraine to Serhii Nayev, Lieutenant General, Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In a separate order, the Head of state awarded with different titles 173 servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

“I have just signed Decrees awarding our heroes. 173 servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were awarded state titles. The title of Hero of Ukraine was awarded to Nayev Serhii Ivanovych, Lieutenant General, Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” Zelensky said.

On April 18, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the title of Hero of Ukraine being awarded to six Ukrainian defenders.

At the same time, he awarded 188 servicemen of the Armed Forces, 553 soldiers of the National Guard, 64 border guards, five policemen, and 26 employees of the State Emergency Service.

Serhii Nayev, Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was born on April 30, 1970, in Mogyliv-Podilskyi, Vinnytsia region.

From 1987 to 1991, he studied at the Moscow Higher All-Military Command School, after which he obtained the military rank of lieutenant.

Since May 1993, he has been working in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

From 1993 to 1999, he served in the command positions: Commander of a Mechanized Platoon, Reconnaissance Company, Chief of Staff and Commander of a Mechanized Battalion, Chief of Staff of the Motorized Infantry (Mechanized) Regiment of the Carpathian Military District (later transformed into the Western Operational Command).

At the end of 2013, he was appointed Chief of the Personnel Department – in the position of the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Command of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (to gain service experience in the headquarters at the operational and strategic levels).

Later, from 2013 to 2015, he served as a Chief of Staff – First Deputy Commander of the Operational Command “South” of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

From 2015 to 2017, he was appointed as a Commander of the Operational Command “East” of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

From 2017 to 2018 Nayev served as a Chief of Staff – First Deputy Commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

On March 5, 2018, he was appointed the Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Since the 16th of March, 2018 he has been serving as a Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
