Lithuania and Poland Ready to Train Ukrainian Troops at Joint Brigade Base
Vilnius and Warsaw are ready to use the base of the Lithuanian-Polish-Ukrainian Brigade located in Poland to train the Ukrainian military.
This news was reported by the Ukrinform news agency.
Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda started this during a joint press conference with Polish President Andrzej Duda in Warsaw.
“We are ready to use our common platforms. We have a base of the Lithuanian-Polish-Ukrainian Brigade in Poland. We are ready to train the Ukrainian military on the basis of this brigade,” Nausėda said.
Nausėda added that he and Duda would visit the brigades on September 5. The Lithuanian President emphasized that Ukraine’s victory in the war against Russia is the greatest guarantee of stability in Europe.
“Therefore, we must do everything possible for Ukraine to win, and we must provide the necessary support to our neighbor who is suffering (from Russian aggression – ed.),” the Lithuanian President stressed.
Militarnyi reported on June 15 that military servicemen of the Lithuanian-Polish-Ukrainian brigade took part in a multinational exercise called THREE SWORDS-24 in Poland.
The two-week exercise aimed to test the cohesion of the military systems of the three states and assess the effectiveness of their multinational cooperation.
Lithuanian-Polish-Ukrainian brigade named after the Grand Hetman Kostiantyn Ostrogski
The brigade was formed in 2014 and includes forces and equipment from the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lithuania, and Poland.
The creation of the Lithuanian-Polish-Ukrainian Brigade is a strategic step aimed at strengthening security in the region and deepening military cooperation between the three countries.
This initiative allows not only to increase the level of trust and mutual understanding between partners, but also to ensure the exchange of experience and best practices in the military sphere.
One of the key tasks of the brigade is to increase interoperability and standardize training. Through joint exercises and training, Ukrainian military personnel have the opportunity to master NATO standards and acquire valuable skills necessary to perform tasks as part of an international force.
In addition, participation in the brigade allows the Armed Forces of Ukraine to integrate into the collective security system and take an active part in international peace and security operations.
