Lithuania has sent a new batch of M113 armored personnel carriers and all-terrain vehicles to Ukraine.
The Lithuanian Defense Ministry stated that armored vehicles with spare parts will arrive in Ukraine this week.
Lithuania, in response to Ukraine’s requests, has already delivered various armored vehicles, ammunition, air defense systems and other equipment this year.
The Lithuanian Defense Ministry noted that the following had already been transferred:
- 155mm ammunition;
- M577 armored vehicles;
- M113 armored vehicles;
- counter drone systems;
- equipment necessary for the winter season and warm clothing sets;
- ammunition for the Carl Gustaf anti-tank grenade launcher;
- RISE-1 remote initiation systems;
- generators; forklifts; trailers; folder beds and other supplies.
Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine, Lithuania has provided Ukraine with military support worth more than €679 million.
Assistance from Lithuania
Lithuania’s overall support for Ukraine is long-term and has exceeded €1 billion.
Lithuania is also waiting for a positive decision regarding the acquisition of short-range anti-aircraft missile systems for Ukraine in the near future.
The Baltic country has also pledged to allocate 0.25% of GDP, or about €190 million, annually for this purpose.
The Lithuanian President also noted that his country is investing €10 million in the production of Ukrainian Palianytsia long-range missile drones and is interested in cooperation in the production of naval drones.
Previously, Lithuania strengthened Ukraine’s air defense with RADA ieMHR radars.
It was also reported in May that Lithuania will acquire Amber-1800 radars for the Ukrainian army with a detection range of up to 400 kilometers. Radars are produced by the Lithuanian company Altimus-tech (formerly LiTak-Tak).
In August, it became known that Lithuania was purchasing drones from local manufacturers for its own army and the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
