The Ministry of National Defence of Lithuania sent the necessary military assistance to Ukraine, which includes mortar rounds.

The country’s Defense Ministry stated that the aid also includes generators and other equipment needed for the upcoming winter.

“Lithuania continues to provide military assistance to Ukraine,” added in the Ministry.

It is likely that Lithuania sent 120mm mortar rounds to Ukraine.

Prior to the full-scale invasion, the Lithuanian army had only 57 mortars, all of which were 120mm.

In particular, the Lithuanians had 20 Soviet-era 2B11 mortars, which they had probably already transferred to Ukraine.

In October 2022, Lithuania ordered Spanish mortars by EXPAL to replenish its 120mm mortar stockpile.

Already at the end of 2023, the Lithuanian army received the first batch of trailed 120mm EXPAL 120-MX2-SM mortars.

It was reported that Lithuania handed Ukraine mobile mortars on the chassis of the M113 tracked armored personnel carrier.

This armored vehicle uses a Tampella 120mm mortar with a range of up to 6,350 meters.

In September 2024, the Lithuanian Ministry of Defense also sent a small arms ammunition to Ukraine.

Since the beginning of the war, Lithuania has provided Ukraine with military support worth over €705 million. Lithuania’s overall support for Ukraine is long-term and has exceeded one billion euros. The Baltic country has pledged to annually allocate 0.25% of its GDP, or about €190 million, for this purpose.
