Lithuania trained 2,900 Ukrainian soldiers in 2023

In 2023, Lithuanian instructors trained about 2,900 Ukrainian soldiers.

The press service of the Lithuanian Armed Forces reported on this.

Ukrainians were trained in Lithuania and as part of a multinational program in the UK and the EU mission.

The programs included basic training, as well as training on specific types of equipment and training for commanders of various levels.

1,600 Ukrainian military personnel were trained directly in 88 different courses in Lithuania.

And sappers were trained as part of an initiative of Lithuania with the countries of Northern Europe.

Among other things, the Ukrainians were mastering Panzermörser 120mm self-propelled mortars on the chassis of the M113A2 tracked armored personnel carrier.

Ukrainian servicemen in Lithuania gained skills in combat use, maintenance and minor repairs of L70 40mm anti-aircraft guns.

Next year, Lithuanian instructors will be involved in the training of about 3,500 Ukrainian servicemen.

Like this year, the training will take place within the framework of the EU mission EUMAM Ukraine, the Operation Interflex in the UK, and in Lithuania.

According to the training programs, the courses provide training for Ukrainian servicemen in the management and maintenance of transferred weapons and equipment, as well as training for commanders and military specialists.

In December, Lithuania handed over new batches of military aid to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. They include a million rounds of ammunition for small arms and winter gear. It also includes field equipment and tens of thousands of field rations.
