Lithuania will hand over the armored vehicles, trucks, and SUVs to Ukraine

Lithuanian Ministry of National Defense and Armed Forces are preparing a new batch of military aid to Ukraine.

Lithuanian Ministry of Defense reported about this.

With these vehicles, the country continues to assist Ukraine in resisting Russia’s large-scale aggression.

Ukraine will receive: 20 M113 tracked armored personnel carriers, 10 military trucks, and 10 SUVs for sappers.

“We are handing over 20 units of American-made armored vehicles. We also send trucks and SUVs to Ukraine. Coordinated support from us and our allies is a decisive factor in Ukraine’s victory, and after the victory – in defense of its sovereignty,” said Arvydas Anušauskas, Minister of National Defense.

According to the Minister, the cost of a new package of military aid to Ukraine is approximately EUR 15.5 million.

The open sources suggest that Lithuania has over 200 M113 armored personnel carriers, including those of M113A1 modification.

The Lithuanian Ministry of Defense assured that the country “makes every effort to support the statehood and independence of Ukraine, has supported and will support Ukraine in all possible ways, including military, financial, humanitarian, and other necessary assistance.”

Lithuania has already handed over Stinger MANPADS, various anti-tank weapons, bulletproof vests, helmets, 120-mm mortars, small arms, ammunition, thermal imagers, drones, anti-drone systems, and surveillance radars to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In total, Lithuania’s military aid currently amounts to approximately EUR 100 million.

M113 lightweight universal floating conveyor is the main tracked armored personnel carrier, which is in service with armies of different countries of the world. In its initial configuration, it was armed with a 12.7-millimeter machine gun and equipped with a gasoline engine. It was later modernized several times.

Its crew consists of two people: a mechanic/driver and a commander. It is able to carry an airborne unit of up to 11 people, as well as serve as a base for several dozens of specialized vehicles.
