Japanese MPs bought 20 cars for the Ukrainian military at their own expense.

Serhii Korsunsky, Ambassador of Ukraine to Japan, reported this.

Along with the cars, the Japanese will deliver other products necessary for the soldiers to the front.

For this, a group of Japanese MPs deducted a cut from their salaries for a certain period of time.

“A group of MPs of the upper house of the Japanese parliament from the opposition party “Renaissance” created a fund of $1.2 million with the cuts from their salaries, with which they purchased 20 Toyota Hilux cars and two containers of useful products for our armed forces,” Ukrainian Ambassador Serhii Korsunsky shared.

He added that all this will arrive in Ukraine and get to Ukrainian defenders in the near future.

Serhii Korsunsky noted that Ukraine has support in the Japanese parliament, both among pro-government parties and opposition forces.

“With the exception of basically one or two people, all the others are on our side,” the Ambassador of Ukraine emphasized.

As previously reported, Japan is considering exporting weapons to countries fighting the invasion.

According to the Japanese publication Nikkei, the government and the ruling Liberal Democratic Party put forward the idea of expanding the list of countries that have the right to receive Japanese-made weapons. These are, in particular, states that are forced to defend themselves against aggression. Ukraine now belongs to such countries.

So far, Japan has transferred only body armor and other non-lethal equipment to Ukraine. According to Nikkei, there is an opinion among Japanese politicians that the diplomatic authority of the country might suffer due to such a pacifist position. There are increasing calls to support Ukraine, invaded by Russia.

Today, on March 21, Prime Minister of Japan Fumio Kishida arrived in Ukraine on an unannounced working visit.
