The Metinvest Group handed over modern gear to the Defence Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

Metinvest reported about this.

The gear should protect the soldiers on the front line and help them to execute tactical tasks more effectively.

The total value of the 1,000 special kits of bulletproof vests, helmets and night vision systems is US$2.5 million.

Ukraine’s defenders receive help from Metinvest on a regular basis. When the Group receives requests from the Armed Forces of Ukraine, it tries to fulfil them as soon as possible.

This time, Metinvest’s representatives have supplied 1,000 special-purpose gear kits manufactured in Israel for the military.

Each kit consists of a light bulletproof vest with ceramic plates, a helmet and a helmet-mounted night vision system.

“The courage of Ukrainian soldiers has become an example of bravery and dignity for the entire world. Our defenders have been standing up to the aggressors for almost three months already, liberating the country from the invaders. From now on, soldiers of the Chief Directorate of Intelligence of the Armed Forces of Ukraine can do this even more effectively and professionally. It took more than two months to purchase such a large batch of special gear for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Metinvest Group has channelled all resources into Ukraine’s victory, this is consistent with the position of our shareholders: Rinat Akhmetov and Vadym Novynskyi. We have been helping the Armed Forces of Ukraine and territorial defence forces since the first days of the war and will continue to do so for as long as necessary,” Oleksandr Voloviz, who heads the Metinvest Group CEO Project Management Office, said.

The gear will help soldiers to perform combat tasks in difficult conditions in total darkness.

It will provide a substantial advantage over the enemy and significantly increase the chances of saving the lives of front-line soldiers. Such gear is used by Israeli special forces and is considered among the best available. Soldiers of the Chief Directorate of Intelligence had a chance to test and assess the gear immediately during its handover.

“The special gear will be immediately sent to the front line and flash points in the east and south of Ukraine. It is unarguably essential for those who are in direct contact and are engaged in destroying the enemy. Bulletproof vests are a consumable that must be replaced regularly. Metinvest’s systemic work in this area is crucially important. This batch is quite large and required a major logistical campaign. It is extremely important that despite losses caused by Russia’s aggression, the Ukrainian business community is providing extensive support to the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” said Andriy Yusov, spokesperson for the Defence Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

As a reminder, the Metinvest Group has already acquired more than 8,100 helmets and 20,000 tourniquets and is supplying more than 100,000 bulletproof vests for the Ukrainian military. This quantity covers a significant share of the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, including employees of Metinvest who have been mobilised.
