Ukrainian attack and transport multi-purpose helicopters have conducted live fire training.

The Mi-24 and Mi-17 crews of the army aviation worked out tasks similar to real combat conditions.

The press service of the Command of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports.

In order to maintain combat training in the Northern operational zone, under the leadership of the Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Serhii Naiev, a series of live fire exercises were conducted for the crews of Ukrainian helicopters.

Mi-17 multi-purpose transport helicopters have been handed over to Ukraine by the United States as military-technical assistance.

According to the Commander, the pilots practice the tasks for which they should be ready in a real combat situation. Military personnel are trained in appropriate flight exercises, gaining a certain amount of experience at the same time.

“The lion’s share of helicopter crews currently participating in training have recently returned from combat missions in the east of our country. Today, they are passing on their long-term and invaluable combat experience, which they gained there, to young pilots,” said Serhii Naiev.

According to the Commander, the combat control team, pilots, as well as engineering and technical personnel trained together for several days.

“In particular, the aviation engineering service conducts many different types of training in accordance with the regulations for the technical operation of aviation equipment. Taking into account the number of flights and the complexity of the tasks, a large load and responsibility falls on the technicians,” Nayev emphasized.

The army aviation of the Defense Forces of Ukraine provides fire support during an offensive or counteroffensive, and strikes enemy troops.

Helicopters also land and support their troops from the air, attack the positions and manpower of the enemy.

It is known that the security assistance package to Ukraine from the United States in 2022 included 20 Mi-17 helicopters. Other countries have also transferred Mi-24 attack helicopters to Ukraine.
