Military operation continues on Zmiyinyi Island – OC “South”
Ukraine’s defense forces continue destroying the enemy personnel and equipment on Zmiyinyi Island.
This was stated by the Operational Command “South”.
The Ukrainian servicemen are attacking the facilities located on the island. There are reports on the destruction of the Pantsir-S1 surface-to-air missile and anti-aircraft artillery system.
“A military operation is underway to defeat the enemy’s forces and equipment on Zmiinyi Island. Another Pantsir-S1 surface-to-air missile and anti-aircraft artillery system was hit,” the report says.
Pantsir-S1 is a Russian ground-based surface-to-air missile and anti-aircraft artillery system. It was designed to provide point air defense of civilian and military objects from air strikes. It can also protect the objects from attacks from the ground.
Information about the destruction of enemy forces on Zmiinyi Island was released on June 21. The Operational Command “South” noted that the Ukrainian troops used the combined forces and equipment, and the Russians suffered significant losses. They also stressed that the operation is still ongoing and needs informational silence before it is accomplished.
On June 22, a satellite image of the island was released, confirming the strikes on Zmiinyi Island.
