Moscow refinery on fire after the largest air raid on Russia
The attack by strike drones on Russian regions on the night of September 1 was the largest since the beginning of the war.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, 158 drones attacked the regions.
Based on the reports from regional authorities, the number of drones launched could have been even higher.
The previous largest attack in terms of the number of drones launched was executed in May when the Russian Defense Ministry reported 108 drones downed.
After the attack on the night of September 1, an oil refinery in Moscow was on fire.
The attack by attack drones was recorded at the same time at an SDPS (state district power station – ed.) in the Tver and Moscow regions.
The Defense Ministry stated that drones attacked 15 regions of Russia.
According to reports from Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, 11 drones targeted Moscow.
After the drone attack, a fire broke out at a refinery in the Kapotnya district of Moscow.
According to the agency, the firefighters reported the incident at the fifth (maximum) level of difficulty (later the level of difficulty was lowered to the second).
The last time Sobyanin reported a drone attack was on August 21.
At the time, the Russian Defense Ministry reported the destruction of 11 Ukrainian drones, and the mayor of the Russian capital called the drone attack “one of the largest attempts to attack Moscow with drones in the entire time” of the war.
