Myanmar Army and Insurgents Turn to FPV Drones

Insurgents from the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) and government forces have started using FPV drones.

This information was reported by Clash Report.

The released footage shows the use of FPV drones against military equipment and fortifications.

FPV drones aren’t the sole thing adopted by parties in the Myanmar civil war from the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.

In early March, Militarnyi reported that insurgents in Myanmar destroyed a government troop’s armored vehicle equipped with a ‘grill.’

The video shows a destroyed Chinese WMA-301 (export version PTL02) wheeled tank destroyer vehicle based on the ZSL92 APC.

Myanmar’s armed forces have about a hundred of these combat vehicles in service.

At that time, it remained uncertain whether anti-government forces had initiated the use of drones armed with ammunition or kamikaze drones, or whether government forces had begun proactive measures.

Ukrainian armor in Myanmar

It was also reported that in Myanmar, the rebels seized Ukrainian-made BTR-3U and MT-LBMSH from government forces.

It is known for certain that the country received 10 combat vehicles in 2007 and 16 in 2009.

There is unconfirmed information that Ukraine sold a slightly larger number of MT-LBMSh to Myanmar, but there is no official information about this.

It is known that Myanmar acquired about 10 BTR-3U in 2003. These armored personnel carriers were seen in 2021 during the beginning of the coup in the country.
