Rescuers, police and volunteers are evacuating the people of border villages in the Kharkiv region.

This is stated in the message of the press service of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.

For more than two days, the evacuation of residents of settlements whose life and health are threatened by constant shelling by the invaders has continued.

This work is carried out under the leadership of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, by the forces of units of the National Police and the State Emergency Service in cooperation with local executive authorities and local authority with volunteers.

Rescuers, police officers, and representatives of local communities are actively informing the population about the necessity to evacuate from border settlements. Subsequently, they accompany them to intermediate evacuation centers, with psychologists from the State Emergency Service providing ongoing support on the ground.

Through collaborative efforts, over 4,500 residents from the border settlements of Bohodukhivskyi, Chuhuivskyi, and Kharkiv districts of the region have been successfully evacuated.

Russian offensive in Kharkiv region

On May 10, Militarnyi reported that Russian troops launched assault operations in the Kharkiv region and fired on border settlements.

On the morning of the same day, Russian rocket artillery began shelling the city of Vovchansk, which is located 5 kilometers from the border with Russia.

Military reports indicate that alongside these evacuation efforts, a hostile reconnaissance and sabotage group attempted to cross the border into Ukraine.

According to the analytical resource DeepState, as of May 12, the Russians were able to capture the settlements of Strilechna, Krasne, Pylna, Borisivka, Ohirtseve and partially Hatyshche and Pletenivka.

Recall that information about the possible offensive of the Russians began to be discussed after the words of Vadym Skibitsky, Deputy Head of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine.

Previously, it was reported that large-scale work had been launched in the Kharkiv region to erect fortifications at hundreds of facilities.

More than 500 workers and more than 200 units of equipment work on fortifications.

A second line of fortifications began to be erected along the border with Russia in the Kharkiv region this month.
