Palantir Inc to provide IT assistance to the Ukrainian army

The American IT company Palantir Technologies Inc and the Ministry of Digital Transformation have announced a partnership that will help enable the company’s technologies to support the defense of Ukraine.

The news was announced on the company’s official website.

Palantir, a leading software company and cloud solutions provider. It will expand support to Ukraine for the following shared goals:

• enhancing the digital capabilities for electronic public services providing the defense and reconstruction of Ukraine;
• supporting and coordinating a digitally-led reconstruction of Ukraine;
• consolidating the efforts in the field of digitalization, digital innovations and integration of Ukraine into the international market
• promoting the implementation of projects with the support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Today, Palantir’s support for Ukraine includes providing software to Ukrainian forces and supporting the resettlement of Ukrainian refugees, including 110,000 in the UK.

Support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the field of digital technologies

Palantir does not specify the methods and means of supporting the Armed Forces of Ukraine, however, it is likely that the company will provide protection for the digital component of the army and help with the transfer of information to a cloud environment with support for critical servers in the future. This would protect them from potential Russian cyberattacks and missile strikes on data centers on the territory of Ukraine.

One of the largest defense projects in the last decade in the army of Ukraine was the development and implementation of a situational awareness system that can provide the military with various data about the enemy and help coordinate forces on the battlefield in real time.

Delta became such a system in the Defense Forces. It was adopted at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on February 4. As the developers state in their article, “Delta” is a cloud system.

“Delta is a cloud system, you can access it from a laptop, smartphone, tablet or other device with a browser,” explains Ruslan Prylypko, head of the IT department of Aerorozvidka NGO.

Artificial Intelligence

The Palantir company has considerable experience in the field of artificial intelligence systems’ development for processing large data sets and solving specialized problems.

The potential integration of digital systems based on artificial intelligence could significantly strengthen the potential of the Ukrainian army in many areas from intelligence to military logistics.

For example, the company recently revealed a project to develop an artificial intelligence model to optimize the process of purchasing products and replenishing stocks for a civilian organization.
