At the Kherson State Plant Pallada a floating dock was laid for the Croatian ISKRA SHIPYARD 1 LLC.

Reported by the press service of the Ukroboronprom State Concern.

A new generation composite floating dock with a carrying capacity of 5,000 tons was laid today, January 28, 2022, the Pallada plant.

Pontoon of the dock will be made of marine reinforced concrete based on sulfate-resistant Portland cement, and towers – from shipbuilding steel.

“A new floating dock will allow ISKRA SHIPYARD 1 LLC to expand its technical capabilities for the construction, repair and modernization of various types of ships in the Adriatic Sea” the press service of the State Concern Ukroboronprom said.

The design of the reinforced concrete pontoon should provide increased rigidity of the entire dock and significantly reduce the thermal deformations associated with the influence of the difference in seawater temperature and ambient air.

This combination of materials minimizes the cost of maintenance of the dock and will provide operation for 50 years or more.

Specialists of the Pallada design department developed the project of this floating structure. The dock will meet the requirements of international conventions and ship classification societies: CRS, BV, ABS, RINA.

The company plans to complete the contract and transfer the dock to the customer by the end of this year.

About the order of construction in Kherson composite floating dock of a new generation, for a foreign customer, we wrote in early November last year.

On December 30, 2021, Pallada Shipbuilding Company on its Facebook page published a design image of the new floating dock Pallada 5000TLC, developed by its own design department of the state plant.

The Pallada 5000TLC is capable of docking all types of civilian vessels with a dock weight of up to 5,000 tons and a length of up to 120 meters, corvette and light frigate vessels, as well as diesel-electric submarines.
