Pentagon: The Armed Forces of Ukraine employ HIMARS and other arms very well on the battlefield
The Ukrainian servicemen make very good use of the weapons systems supplied to them by the United States, its allies, and partners on the battlefield.
This was announced at a briefing by a Senior Defense Official.
The Defense Forces of Ukraine are receiving material and logistical assistance from different countries to counter Russia’s full-scale invasion, which began on February 24 this year.
“As you’ve likely observed on social media, Ukrainians are noting now that they do have HIMARS in their country. I won’t go into any particular details this morning [June 27], but all indications are that they are employing them very well,” Senior Defense Official said.
The official also mentioned that the U.S. Department of Defense is continuing to work diligently to get the additional four HIMARS in Ukraine.
A Pentagon spokesman added:
“I think what you’re seeing on the battlefield is that the Ukrainians are making good use of not just our assistance, but systems that they’re obtaining from our partners and allies around the world.”
As previously reported, Jake Sullivan, White House National Security Advisor confirmed that the transfer of air defense systems to Ukraine will indeed occur. He mentioned this during his conversation with journalists during the G7 summit.
That suggests a likely transfer of NASAMS systems to Ukraine.
Sullivan added that the details will be announced pending the approval of the aid package. This should be happening already this week.
In addition, he stressed that the United States will try to adjust its assistance with the specific needs of the Ukrainian servicemen and the situation at the front.
Back in April, the anti-aircraft missile units of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated that they were trying to replace obsolete Soviet-made Buk-M1 SAM with advanced NASAMS systems.
