German defense giant Rheinmetall presented a new wheeled combat reconnaissance vehicle for the first time at the Eurosatory 2024 in Paris.

German publication Hartpunkt reported on this.

The vehicle is based on a floating version of the new Fuchs Evolution 6×6 armored personnel carrier.

With this vehicle, Rheinmetall entered the competition for the next generation of the Bundeswehr’s Korsak reconnaissance vehicle, where it competed with the Patria 6×6 and Piranha 6×6 APCs.

The combat reconnaissance vehicle shown in Paris is equipped with a combat module from the Slovenian company Valhalla Turrets, which weighs about 700 kg and is armed with a Rheinmetall KBA 25×137 mm automatic gun with a double belt feed for the ammunition.

The combat reconnaissance vehicle based on Fuchs Evolution has enough internal volume for the crew and additional equipment.

The vehicle is equipped with a powerful reconnaissance optical station located on a retractable mast, as well as a 360-degree vision system with combined day and night vision, and a laser warning system.

The wheeled combat reconnaissance vehicle from Rheinmetall has a permissible total weight of 24.5 tons.

Fuchs Evolution APC

Last year, the German concern Rheinmetall demonstrated an updated version of the Fuchs APC in black, called Evolution.

The new model has a 455 horsepower engine. The APC can reach a maximum speed of 100 kilometers per hour and has a range of over 800 kilometers.

The armored personnel carrier is available in several versions. For example, the platform can serve as an engineering or medical evacuation vehicle and can also be retrofitted to defuse explosive ordnance.
