At the beginning of this year, Russia and Belarus agreed to deploy part of Russia’s tactical nuclear arsenal on the territory of Belarus.

The Head of the Russian Federation announced this in March. According to Putin, Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko had been requesting to deploy these weapons in the country for a long time.

The Russian president stated that the construction of a storage facility for tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus should be completed by July 1. It is likely that to deploy these weapons, the Russians will use the facility that housed the units of the strategic missile forces of the USSR on the territory of Belarus. In addition, the Belarusian military received Russian Iskander missile systems, which can use nuclear weapons.

Previously, Lukashenko also stated that a number of tactical aircraft of the Belarusian Air Force, namely Su-25 jet aircraft, had been re-equipped to carry nuclear weapons.
