Russia is withdrawing its aviation from Belarus

The Russian Federation is withdrawing its military aircraft and helicopters from Belarus.

The Belarusian Gayun monitoring group reported on this.

The Russian aviation left Belarusian airfields on Saturday.

On the morning of August 5, 10 military helicopters of the Russian Air Force flew out from Belarus. They left the Machulishchy air base around 8.15-8.20 a.m. local time.

The group included 4 Mi-8 transport helicopters and 6 Mi-24 attack helicopters and approximately 20 crew members.

Russian helicopters were later observed over the Mogilev region. Most of them spent 209 days in Belarus (since January 8, 2023). Subsequently, they crossed the border of Belarus with the Russian Federation and landed at the Russian Seshcha air base in the Bryansk region.

Later, around 2:00 p.m., another Russian Mi-24 helicopter took off from the Machulishchy air base.

It was the last helicopter of the Russian aviation group in Belarus. It went towards the east, apparently, heading for the Seshcha air base as well.

During their stay in Belarus, this group of Russian helicopters lost one unit of aviation equipment: in June, a Mi-24 helicopter of the Russian Aerospace Forces crashed near Ivatsevichy.

Also on Saturday, a group of 9 Russian warplanes left Belarus.

At 1:30 p.m., a group of Su-34 bombers and Su-30SM multirole fighter aircraft took off from the Baranovichi air base. They also passed through the Mogilev region and crossed the border. Most of these Russian warplanes spent 202 days in Belarus (as of January 15, 2023).

As previously reported, Belarus gives Russia its territory to wage a full-scale war against Ukraine. From there, Russian invasion forces advanced on the northern regions of Ukraine and Kyiv in February 2022. In addition, last year, Russia actively shelled Ukrainian facilities from the territory of the Republic of Belarus.
