Russian Su-30 Fighter Disappeared near Sevastopol
Last night, a Russian Su-30SM fighter jet disappeared near Sevastopol.
Analysts from the ‘monitor’ telegram group, which tracks Russian aviation, reported that the Su-30SM tactical aircraft “disappeared” over the Black Sea at about 23:40.
The disappearance of the Russian warplane occurred after the launch of X-31P missiles in the Odesa region.
The Russian Su-30SM fired 4 missiles out of 6 available, after which it disappeared from the radar screen. The fighter jet was based at the airfield in Krymsk (Krasnodar Krai of the Russian Federation).
Today, rescue and search operations continue at the site of its disappearance (63 km from Zaliznyi Port).
“There was no information about the two crew members, and there is a possibility that both did not survive,” the analysts said.
According to the sources of the Crimean Wind group, Mi-8 and Ka-27 helicopters from the Russian Black Sea Fleet airfield in Kacha took part in the search operation.
The Russians launched a large-scale missile and drone strike against Ukraine at night.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, the Russians hit Snake Island with six Kh-31P anti-radiation missiles from the airspace over the Black Sea.
Such missiles are used against radars as part of anti-aircraft missile systems and can also target other sources of radio radiation.
Despite the loss of Su-30s, Russia continues to manufacture this type of aircraft at its own facilities.
Recently, the Irkutsk Aviation Plant manufactured and handed over new Su-30SM2 multi-role fighters to the Russian Defense Ministry.
