Russian mercenaries are trying to replenish their ranks with Ukrainian prisoners.

This is reported by the Sprotyv website.

The Sprotyv noted that Wagner PMC received permission to involve people who are serving sentences in prisons from the temporarily occupied territories.

The decision on such “recruiting” was made by the occupation administration of the so-called “DPR”.

The Sprotyv emphasized that the invaders would look for ‘live power’ in Ukrainian prisons.

“Prisoners are sent to the front line without training, <…> they are thrown into battle before the start of the assault as ‘cannon fodder,'” the informants added.

Note that the Sprotyv website was created by the Special Operations Forces to support and coordinate those fighting for the liberation of the territory of Ukraine from the invaders.

In November, it was recorded that the number of prisoners in Russia decreased by 23,000 against the background of recruitment of prisoners from men’s colonies to Wagner PMC.

As early as August of this year, it became known that the so-called PMC Wagner began recruiting Russian prisoners into its formations. Later, a video of Yevgeny Prigozhin, the owner of Wagner PMC, who personally recruits prisoners in Russia for the war in Ukraine was released.

As previously reported, a student from Zambia, who was serving a prison sentence in Russia, died in the war in Ukraine. It is noted that 23-year-old Lemekhani Nathan Nyirenda studied nuclear engineering at the Moscow Engineering Physics Institute.

In 2020, he was convicted of drug possession.

At the end of November, Prigozhin announced that he had recruited Natan Nyirenda in the Russian colony.
