Slovakia has preliminarily agreed to provide Ukraine with the S-300 anti-aircraft missile systems – the media
Slovakia has preliminarily agreed to provide Ukraine with the S-300 anti-aircraft missile systems to protect against Russian air strikes.
The Militarnyi informs about it.
Ukrainian online media “European Pravda” with reference to three sources of the American CNN, writes about such a possibility.
According to two sources, Slovakia wants assurances that air defense systems will be replaced immediately if handed over to Ukraine.
If the country provides its S-300, American-made Patriot systems are likely to replace them but the transfer isn’t yet assured.
Germany and the Netherlands have already publicly stated that they are sending Patriot systems to Slovakia.
But the integration of the new air defense system into the existing military architecture of the country, as well as the training of personnel for use may take a long time, warned one of the sources familiar with this issue.
Yesterday, the American media reported that the United States and its NATO allies have sent air defense systems to Ukraine.
However, there is a contradiction in the CNN report. After all, the authors of the news note that the provided systems have “these systems have a lower altitude range than the S-300 system, which Ukraine has requested.”
There may be confusion in the report regarding the names of the MANPADS.
