Slovakia’s VOP Novaky Launches €10 Million Automated Ammunition Production Line
Slovak company VOP Nováky opened a new production line for ammunition on Friday, August 23, 2024.
The company is part of the Czechoslovak Group (CSG), one of the largest arms manufacturers in Europe.
More than €10 million was invested in the new automated production line, which would help expand and improve production capabilities.
The special equipment is capable of filling ammunition of 81 mm to 122 mm caliber with explosives.
However, at the initial stage, the new line will produce 122mm and 120mm ammunition for tanks and mortars.
Along with other facilities in Slovakia, as well as in Spain and Serbia, the CSG and its Defense division are among the most important European producers of large-caliber ammunition.
Since 2013, VOP Nováky has been focused on the export of ammunition. It supplies its products to seventy countries.
The Slovak company is developing its solutions due to the current security situation, when there is a high demand for large-caliber ammunition worldwide and insufficient production capacity.
This year, VOP Nováky expects €280 million in revenues, twice as much as in 2023.
Due to the growth in orders for the company’s products, the number of employees was also increasing and reached 300 in 2024.
In July, the Czech Ministry of Defense announced that it was preparing to launch a new initiative to supply Ukraine with artillery shells in 2025. It will involve Czech ammunition manufacturers, including Czechoslovak Group, as well as STV Group, Omnipol, Colt CZ Group SE, and DSS.
In March, Militarny reported that the Czechoslovak Group plans to invest millions in the creation of joint defense enterprises in Ukraine, thereby investing in Ukrainian defense capabilities.
