Soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine demonstrated them shooting down a Russian missile with the Igla MANPADS
Defense Forces of Ukraine destroyed an enemy missile in the air.
The 101st Brigade for the Protection of the General Staff named after Colonel-General Hennadiy Vorobyov reported about this.
The crew of the Igla MANPADS neutralized the Russian rocket.
The servicemen demonstrated the fragments of the enemy’s destroyed weapons, which were used to attack Ukraine.
For the purposes of security and disorientation of the enemy, the servicemen did not disclose the date and place of the event.
According to the servicemen, the missile was flying toward the capital of our country, but was neutralized by the Ukrainian air defense unit and fell.
Representatives of the military unit claim they had destroyed the Kh-22 air-based missile.
They released the pictures featuring the fragments of what remained of the Russian weapons.
However, it is difficult to identify from the released pictures which exact missile model was shot down in our air.
The presented photos capture a wing, which, in combination with similar means, performs the functions of a rudder in a missile.
Also, on the ground what remained of the missile body after the Igla MANPADS hit can be observed.
Igla MANPADS is a man-portable air-defense system designed to defeat low-flying enemy helicopters and aircraft on the counter and parallel courses under the influence of natural and artificial thermal obstacles.
