Swedish officials approve a three-year military aid program for Ukraine worth SEK 75 billion.

The Swedish government announced this.

“Ukraine’s struggle against Russian aggression continues, and Sweden will support Ukraine as long as necessary,” the statement said.

The military assistance program, which runs from 2024 to 2026, provides for the allocation of SEK 25 billion annually.

Sweden’s total military and civilian assistance for Ukraine will amount to over SEK 100 billion.

Military assistance can be provided as free transfer of defense equipment, financial contributions, and financial support for the defense equipment purchase.

“With Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the security situation in Europe is the most serious since World War II. This means that domestic rearmament and support for Ukraine must continue,” the Swedish government emphasized.

Swedish officials believe that assistance for Ukraine should be provided in a way that does not undermine Sweden’s defense capabilities or harm other necessary reforms.

On May 9, Militarnyi reported that Sweden had allocated €30 million to ensure Ukraine’s defense capability.

These funds will be used primarily to support Ukraine and as financial support for various aid coalitions.

Of the total amount, €18 million will be transferred to three coalitions raising funds to support Ukraine in various areas.

On March 14, it was reported that Sweden would provide €30 million for a Czech initiative to purchase ammunition for the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

The government decided that the Swedish Defense Materiel Administration (FMV) could negotiate and conclude an agreement with the responsible authority in the Czech Republic.
