British Marines have received a new Talon DT-300 multifunctional drone for testing.

The UK Defence Journal reported that the tests had been conducted during the REMPUS 2024 exercise.

The device can be used to drop mines and hydroacoustic devices and also it can be used as a carrier for FPV drones to increase their range.

Developed by the British company Rotron, it is also capable of carrying FPV drones, which increases the range of their use.

During the exercises, the Talon DT-300 simulated the dropping of ammunition against the XV Patrick Blackett.

This unique ship is designed to test the latest technologies and autonomous systems.

“The vessel was stationary during the drop, which was carried out using inert 3D-printed mortar shells while the ship was at sea,” the developers said.

The British drone managed to drop 12 81mm mortar shells on the test ship.

The Talon DT-300 was also tested in several other configurations during the REPMUS exercise. In particular, the drone was able to deliver six FPV drones to the target, which are supposed to hit specific targets.

Other potential capabilities of the DT-300 include intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance.

Earlier, the Talon DT-300 has already been tested with the Javelin anti-tank system and the AGR-20 APKWS missile launcher installed on it.
