In the Bakhmut direction, the Russians engage 2S9 Nona 120mm self-propelled mortars and BMD infantry fighting vehicles.

The Ukrainian defenders of Bakhmut hit two of these self-propelled mortars.

One of the 2S9 Nona 120 mm mortars was destroyed by the 4th Rapid Reaction Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine artillery.

“The spectacular destruction of the Russian 2S9 Nona 120mm self-propelled mortar, along with the ammunition in the Bakhmut direction,” the guardsmen reported.

The strike was coordinated by a Ukrainian-made reconnaissance UAV.

The defeat of the second 2S9 Nona self-propelled mortar was demonstrated by the Army SOS volunteers.

“Destroyed “Nona” ACS, which was chasing the defenders of Bakhmut. The Valkyrie UAV and the Kropyva system are effectively working,” the volunteers shared.

Also, in the Bakhmut direction, the use of BMD infantry fighting vehicles, which are also being destroyed, was noticed.

“The artillery of the NGU`s Rapid Reaction Brigade inflicted a direct fire strike on the IFV. As a result, the armored vehicle was eliminated,” the National Guard reported.

Russian armed forces’ airborne troops are using the 2S9 Nona and BMD.

The use of this equipment in the Bakhmut direction suggests that the Russian command involved paratroopers, and not only mercenaries and prisoners from the so-called Wagner PMC, in attacking the positions of the Ukrainian military.

The Russian invaders are trying to break through the Ukrainian defenses in the Bakhmut and Vuhledar area to advance further, namely toward Sloviansk, Kramatorsk, and Pokrovsk.
