The city of Hostomel – a place of Antonov’s flight test base – was liberated by the Ukrainian Armed Forces from the Russian invaders.

The Press Service of the Antonov State Enterprise reported that as a result of the hostilities in Hostomel, three planes were destroyed and five more planes were damaged.

“Unfortunately, resulting from the actions of the “Russian peace”, the airport is non-recognizable now. AN-26, AN-74 and AN-225 aircrafts, a control tower, and an administration building had been destroyed,” reads the statement.

AN-12, AN-22, AN-28, AN-132D, and AN-124-100-150 aircrafts, hangars, and infrastructure of the state enterprise were damaged.

“There is a lot of work ahead of us to restore the infrastructure of the airport and the air fleet of the Antonov Company,” admitted the company’s press service.

Previously, a video demonstrating the aerial view over the Hostomel airfield after it was abandoned by the Russian invaders has been released.

The frame also includes the world’s biggest An-225 Mriya cargo plane, which was destroyed.

The fact of destruction of the Ukrainian giant aircraft became public on February 27.

The Ukrainian city has suffered significant damage, including industrial facilities and the housing sector.

Hostomel is one of the strategic Kyiv suburbs. Fierce hostilities for control of the city have been going on since the beginning of full-scale Russian aggression against Ukraine.
