R-166-0.5 radiostations are designed to provide radio communication both as part of communication nodes and through autonomous work.

It endures the information transmission in the HF (high frequency) and VHF (very high frequency) bands.

Armored UNSH-10 chassis is based on a modified BTR-80 armored personnel carrier.
