The Armed Forces of Ukraine liberated more than 20 settlements in Kharkiv Region

The Armed Forces of Ukraine have liberated more than 20 settlements in Kharkiv Region.

Oleksiy Hromov, Deputy Chief of the Main Operations Department of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, announced this on September 8.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine liberated settlements together with units of the National Guard of Ukraine.

“As part of the defense operation in the Kharkiv Region with the aim of restoring the lost territories, since the beginning of the week, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in cooperation with units of the National Guard and other security forces, have been conducting active actions in the specified directions,” Hromov said.

Ukrainian forces have wedged themselves into the enemy’s defense to a depth of up to 50 km.

“The military units have wedged themselves into the enemy’s defense to a depth of up to 50 km. Filtration operations are ongoing in some settlements. In the course of active operations in the Kharkiv direction, more than 20 settlements were liberated,” he said.

The total area of the territory returned to Ukraine’s control in the Kharkiv and Southern-Buh directions is more than 700 square kilometers.

In his conversation with journalists, Oleksiy Hromov continues to steer clear of specifics and omits mentioning the liberated settlements. Instead, he just notes: “Yes, we have success in a number of directions.”

On August 7, President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that the Ukrainian Defense Forces had achieved some success in the Kharkiv Region.

Zelensky did not reveal the names of the settlements liberated from Russian invaders by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

“This week, we have good news from the Kharkiv region. You have all likely already seen reports about the activity of Ukrainian defenders. And I think every citizen feels proud of our soldiers,” said the President.

As previously reported, on September 7, a significant amount of the invaders’ manpower surrendered.
