The Ukrainian military received 82-mm mortar rounds manufactured by Ukroboronprom.

The State Concern reported this by releasing a video.

The footage shows the servicemen opening a box of ammunition and starting preparations for its use.

Next, two servicemen equipped the 2B9 Vasyliok automatic gun-mortar with these 82-mm mines.

Ukroboronprom unrolled mass production of 82 mm HE-fragmentation mortar rounds abroad. It is established at the facilities of a NATO member state.

The 82 mm fragmentation mortar rounds is designed to defeat enemy manpower from a mortar at a distance of up to 4,500 meters.

The manufacturer claims that the ammunition has been improved and is considerably better than the standard one.

Ukroboronprom reported that during the tests, the number of deadly fragments recorded on the target shields and on the target situation site was 2-2.5 times higher than one of a regular mine.

“The fragment size and shape is also superior to the standard one,” the concern notes.

According to the standard, the number of fragments that should hit the target during the rupture of a regular mine at a distance of 5 meters should be 198 pieces, at a distance of 10 meters – 70 pieces, and at a distance of 15 meters – 41 pieces.

“The ammunition improved by the Ukroboronprom enterprises specialists demonstrated 460, 140, and 69 fragments, respectively,” the concern’s representatives shared.

2B9 Vasyliok is an 82-mm automatic mortar. 2B9M breech-loaded mortar features a fully automatic breech opening, shell loading and chambering, locking, and firing. The mortar is capable of single and automatic fire with a rate of 170 rounds per minute. The combat firing rate is 100-120 rounds per minute. The mortar is clip fed.
